The Summit Literacy story
As a knowledgeable and dedicated professional, Rachel has always held a profound desire to assist others in the area of literacy. Her passion for this field has led her to continuously enhance her classroom literacy program through ongoing professional development and further study. After completing her Bachelor of Teaching and Learning, Primary, Rachel went on to to complete her Post-Graduate Diploma with an endorsement in Literacy as well as a micro credential in the Better Start Literacy Approach, all undertaken at the University of Canterbury. But Rachel's commitment to her students does not end there. As well as ensuring individual's needs are met through careful and thorough assessment, detailed planning and creative teaching, she also ensures that every student feels safe and comfortable in their learning environment to enable learning to unfold.
Following a serious health event in 2023 it became untenable for Rachel to carry on teaching in the classroom. During the remainder of 2023 and 2024 Rachel remained in the school setting and focused her energies on improving literacy teaching and learning in a background role.
As a dedicated literacy professional, Rachel is passionate about using her expertise to help Summit Literacy reach and empower a diverse audience in their literacy learning journeys.
